By KATHLEEN KELLYLECKER By Associated PressCNN.COMThe Associated Press is covering a series of videos, blogs and social media posts by leftists who claim they’re part of the new left.
The videos, written in English, have been circulating on social networks like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, with titles like “The Resistance and the New Left,” and “Resistance and the Left.”
They have included the hashtag #Resistance, which has been trending on Twitter, and #ResistLivesMatter, which gained traction on the hashtag.
In one video, a white man who identified himself as a member of the New York State Nurses Association said he is “deeply concerned” about the death of Sandra Bland, the 18-year-old black woman who died after being arrested while driving on a North Texas highway in July.
He said Bland had been on the lam for days, and her family had been waiting for a $1,000 reward.
Bland’s family has denied wrongdoing and is calling for her release from jail.
Another video says protesters who have been protesting against police brutality in Ferguson, Missouri, are part of a new generation of radicalized protesters who are “under the control of the media.”
“We’re here to fight, not to be manipulated, to be empowered,” the narrator says.
The other videos claim to be from the anti-fascist movement, including one that says “we have to do everything we can to prevent white supremacy from spreading to our cities and our nation.”
The New York chapter of Black Lives Matter has been active in social media.
In an interview with the New Yorker magazine, a black woman named Nita Williams told the magazine that the group has been pushing for more black representation in the news media and in politics.
Williams, who is black, said she doesn’t think that the media is giving the movement too much attention, but that she thinks the movement has a lot to do with how the media portrays black people and their experiences.
Williams has been one of the most visible organizers of the Black Lives Matters movement, which is fighting for changes in how police officers are treated, and for a more diverse range of candidates for the presidency.
Black Lives Matter is also a leader in organizing anti-police brutality protests and marches.
In March, a Black Lives matter group in the San Francisco Bay Area called a rally in response to police shootings of unarmed black men in Ferguson and Staten Island.
The movement also has taken aim at Republican politicians, including Gov.
Brian Sandoval of Nevada, who has faced criticism for comments he made on race and police brutality.
In another video, the narrator, a woman who identified herself as a leader of the group, said the movement is “against white supremacy and white supremacy fascists.”
“This is what we’re going to fight for, because the media doesn’t like to talk about it,” the woman says.
“They hate to talk, and that’s why we are here.”
